Chilean Aperitif
This is a photo of Mauricio's father, not too long before he died. In the photo he's having a "cola de mono" aperitif before dinner. The drink is a little like Baileys, except not quite as rich and as sweet, and it usually comes out around Christmas - a very traditional drink in Chile. Here is the recipe below:-
1 can (12 fl. oz.) Evaporated Milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup granulated sugar or to taste
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon instant Coffee Granules
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch ground nutmeg
1 cup Chilean aguardiente, white rum, brandy or vodkaChile
